The Choices of Motherhood

The moment we find out we are pregnant we start to make choices for our now growing families.

Some big, some small and once our new little love arrives they become more and more frequent. C-section or vaginal birth. Medicated or unmedicated. Breast or bottle fed. Co-sleep or bassinet/cot. When to start solids. What to start with, how do I want to do it. Do they need to go to the doctor. Do we ride this out or get a sleep consultant.

On and on they just keep coming and along with that is the question if you’re making the right choice. Social media, google, family members, friends, strangers, medical staff all have something to say, whether you like it or not.
It’s a gift and a curse that we have such a wealth of information at our finger tips.

They say to rely on your “mothers intuition” but what if you don’t know what it’s saying, or if it’s even there. At the start it’s so hard, every choice feels so big and important and you’ve never done this before. Your deep in the trenches trying to wade through all the information to make the right one. But the beauty of babies and children is we get to keep trying again.

Wherever you are Mumma, whatever choices you are up to today, they are enough. Whatever you decide is good enough, because you decided it. Because the choice is for you, your baby and your family.
